Spontaneous Thursday Night

Ok I do not know about you guys but for me every day is pretty much the same. In no way am I complaining about this I am simply putting it out there. I am a homebody and do not like to go out as much anymore. I am in my thirties and to be honest I just want peace, a nice meal and down time after work. I am also so used to the daily routine which pretty much is work sleep repeat.

But for some reason yesterday that changed. It was Thursday. Me and my sister were just talking and all of a sudden she says one of my coworkers recommended a hot chocolate from Kei Coffee House in Westminster. And she just said very casually "do you want to go right now?" She also mentioned being bored so I agreed. I quickly took a shower and it was off to catch the bus after that.

Oh man I quickly realized I'm not cut out for so much adventure. We were literally chasing and catching the buses. At one point I was out of breath and sweating like if I had ran a mile. So when we got there it was a packed house. But we managed to find a seat next to a really nice young couple with a baby and a stroller. We enjoyed our peppermint hot chocolate with the famous viral toasted marshmallow rim. We both gave it a strong rating of 4 stars out of 5. It was definitely worth the hype and the bus catching.

Once we headed out of the coffee shop I suggested we get ramen. Why not right I mean we were far from home and why not get a bite to eat. Sadly the ramen place next to the Kei Coffee House was no longer there. But oh do not worry because we quickly changed plans and decided to get Pho.

There were two Pho restaurants and we decided to go into the Pho54 restaurant. I suggested we get the Pho to go but things quickly changed once we entered the restaurant. We were greeted and immediately given instructions on where to take a seat and were handed menus. Oh boy we were definitely not getting take out so we scanned the menu and decided to go for the famous steak and prime rib pho, the shrimp pho and an order of egg rolls. For drinks we settled on a water and a lemonade despite seeing so many coffee and Thai tea options on the menu.

Before we realized and were able to fully get comfortable in our assigned seats we see the waiter with our pho and drinks. Such quick service. Ok call us uncultured or whatever you guys would like to but we had never had pho before. Yes it was our first time trying the famous pho. We had a plate full of bean sprouts, limes, jalapeño peppers, cilantro, and mint. Now we knew we needed to add all this but we did not know we could also add sriracha and this teriyaki looking sauce. Does anyone know what sauce it actually is? I really enjoyed the taste of the shrimp pho broth. But my sister thought her steak and prime rib pho was a little bit on the plain side. So she added everything except for what I call the teriyaki sauce. The egg rolls though were so darn good. They were all that and more. We were given lots of lettuce and other greens to make ourselves egg roll tacos to dip into that delicious sauce that paired perfectly with the egg rolls.

I finished all my shrimp Pho but my sister had some pho left as well as egg roll left overs. We packed the left overs quickly and got an uber to get back home. I guess the whole point of the story is just to get out of the norm and have a spontaneous adventure once in a while. It is fun and we agreed to have a spontaneous weekly adventure or a bi weekly one. Thank you for reading. Have a great weekend.
